Condolences: Passing of Dato’ Pahamin A. Rajab

Surely we belong to Allah, and to Him shall we return. May the Almighty Allah expand his grave and give him eternal peace. Allah is always merciful towards people who believe in him.

Deepest condolences to the family.

PGPF is saddened by the sudden passing of a trustee, Dato’ Pahamin Abdul Rajab, who suffered a heart attack whilst on a flight to London today. Dato’ Pahamin was a man steadfast in convictions especially in the matters of altruism principled in faith. His active participation and generous philanthropy in PGPF vision and mission to Energise Peace and Criminalise War will be missed.

Biography:

Dato’ Pahamin Abdul Rajab was born 23 February 1946, an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya, holds several tertiary qualifications. He obtained the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in History majoring in International Relations from the University of Malaya in 1970; the Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration majoring in Economic Development from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, United States of America in 1978, a Law Degree with Honours from the University of London in 1990, and a postgraduate Diploma in Syariah Law and Practice from the International Islamic University, Malaysia in 1994. In 2006, he was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) by University of Newcastle, and in 2011, Honorary Doctorate by the University of Greenwich.

Dato’ Pahamin has worked in several ministries and government agencies in Malaysia over a 30-year period. He was recognised internationally as an expert in intellectual property laws by the World Intellectual Property Organisation. In year 2000, he was awarded the prestigious Cyber Champion International Award by Business Software Alliance in Washington. He was a trustee of the Perdana Global Peace Foundation as well as the Tun Mahathir PGPF Chair for Global Peace at the International Islamic University of Malaysia. He was also an Honorary Rotarian of the Rotary Club of Greater Kuala Lumpur. He was the Chairman of the Academic Council at the SEGI University and Colleges and Patron of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kamil in Pasir Putih, Kelantan. He was the Chairman of a few listed and private company namely, YBS International Berhad and Mediscreen Sdn Bhd.
